What is Reiki? Reiki is based on the idea that there is a universal life force energy that flows through all living things. The word "Reiki" comes from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning universal, and "Ki," meaning life force energy. This practice is not tied to any specific religion, making it accessible to everyone. How Does Reiki Work? During a Reiki session, you will typically lie down fully clothed while the practitioner lightly places their hands on or near your body. The practitioner acts as a conduit for the energy, allowing it to flow where it is needed most. Reiki is subtle, but powerful. It works with your energy system -- the undercurrents that shape how you feel, move, heal, and connect. When energy gets blocked, it can show up as anxiety, exhaustion, tension, or even dissociation. Or just that nagging feeling that something is just "off." There are parts of you carrying weight you might not even realize -- old emotions, stress, burnout, grief, ancestral wounds and memories-- it settles into the nervous system, into the breath, and into the body. Reiki offers a gentle way to shift that. No analyzing, or fixing, or digging up old wounds or traumatic memories -- but by softening, unwinding, and making space. It's less about doing, and more about allowing. Letting your energy rebalance itself. What a session might feel like: -A deep sense of calm and emotional release -Tingling, warmth, or waves of energy -Insights or clarity from within -Relief from tension, stress, or stuckness. Sometimes you leave feeling lighter. Sometimes more grounded, sometimes just a little more you. Sessions take place in Vallican, BC.
